What Are Brush Rollers Used For?

Brush rollers run on continuous processing lines for plates, coils and profiles and must be dynamically balanced. Constructions include external wrap, center shaft, knotted and stacked (laminated) types.

How to Specify an Industrial Brush Roller

Most roller brush problems trace back to the specification, not the brush. Four variables decide whether a roller runs clean at speed or vibrates and finishes unevenly:

• Filament material. Rubber and nylon mixed bristle for gentle contact on sheet, coil and profiles; silicon carbide or aluminum oxide abrasive filament where scale and oxide have to come off; steel wire for heavy mill scale.
• Shaft diameter and mounting. Matched to the line you already run — keys, journals, bearing seats and end caps to drawing.
• Outer diameter and face width. Set by the pass width you need to cover in one revolution, not by the brush you happen to have.
• Rotating speed and dynamic balancing. The single biggest cause of vibration, chatter and uneven finish on wide rollers. We balance every roller we build — see our dynamic balancing treatment.
